Eligibility for BDS admission 2023
To be eligible for BDS admission in 2023, it is mandatory to qualify for the NEET-UG entrance exam. This requirement applies to both Indian and international students who wish to study these medical courses in India or abroad. In addition to NEET-UG, the other admission criteria are:
- Obtain at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in the 10 2 examination.
- Secure a minimum of 50% marks in English in the 10 2 examination.
- Attain an aggregate score of at least 50% in the 12th standard examination.

Career and Scope in Dentistry:
- Dental anesthesiology: Dental anesthesiologists administer sedation and anesthesia during dental procedures. They must complete a two-year residency program and pass a national exam.
- Public health dentistry: Public health dentists focus on improving the dental health of entire communities, including preventive care and health education. They typically work for government agencies or non-profit organizations.
- Endodontics: Endodontists specialize in root canal therapy and other procedures involving the inner pulp of teeth. They must complete an additional two to three years of training beyond dental school.
- Oral and maxillofacial pathology: Oral and maxillofacial pathologists diagnose and treat diseases and disorders affecting the mouth, jaw, and other facial structures. They typically work in research or academic settings.

- Orofacial pain: Orofacial pain specialists diagnose and treat chronic pain conditions affecting the mouth, jaw, and other facial structures. They must complete an additional two to three years of training beyond dental school.
- Orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics: Orthodontists specialize in straightening teeth and correcting jaw alignment issues using braces and other devices. They must complete an additional two to three years of training beyond dental school.
