
Tamil Nadu Releases 2024 MBBS and BDS Rank List; Cut-off Scores Expected to Rise….
Recently, the Tamil Nadu Government has released the rank list for candidates seeking admission to MBBS and BDS courses in Tamil Nadu colleges. Along with the rank list, the cut-off scores have been slightly increased due to improved performance by candidates compared to NEET 2023. Notably, 89,426 candidates qualified NEET 2024. The rank list was unveiled by Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian on Monday.
The Tamil Nadu Government has announced the rank list for MBBS and BDS admissions, with a slight increase in cut-off scores due to improved candidate performance compared to NEET 2023. The state has a total of 36 government colleges offering 5,050 MBBS seats, plus 150 seats at ESIC College in KK Nagar. Additionally, 888 seats will be allocated for the All India quota, and 496 MBBS seats and 126 BDS seats are reserved for government school students.
Health Minister Ma Subramanian stated that, including government quota seats from self-financing colleges, Tamil Nadu will offer a total of 6,630 seats for MBBS and 1,683 for BDS under the government quota.
According to a TOI report, this year saw a significant increase in applications, with 43,063 received for MBBS/BDS admissions—2,721 more than in 2023. This includes 3,733 applications for the 7.5% government quota seats, 343 for the sports category, 455 for children of defense personnel, and 133 for differently-abled individuals.
Round 1 counselling for MBBS and BDS admissions for the 2024-2025 academic session began on August 21, with special category counselling (for sportspersons, children of ex-servicemen, and differently-abled persons) starting on August 22.
