​Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS), established in 2006 by the Government of Karnataka, is a prominent medical college located in Hassan, Karnataka. Affiliated with the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, HIMS offers a comprehensive MBBS program spanning four and a half years, followed by a mandatory one-year rotating internship in its affiliated hospitals. ​The institute is integrated with the Government District Teaching Hospital, a multispecialty facility situated in the heart of Hassan. This 750-bed hospital admits approximately 54,000 inpatients and attends to around 7 lakh outpatients annually, providing students with extensive clinical exposure. ​

HIMS encompasses various departments, including Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine, Community Medicine, General Medicine, Pediatrics, TB and Chest & Pulmonary, Dermatology, Psychiatry, General Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Anesthesia, Radiology, and Dentistry. ​
